What's Love Got to Do With It?

Inspired By True Love, 24x26, oil on canvas
today i want to get a little philosophical....do i have your permission?....because i'm working on a series called Deep Love and one of my most popular pieces is called Inspired By True Love....now, let me first say by no means do i believe i'm an expert in this subject....but the fact that it interests me means that i'm searching, like so many people, for it's essence, it's true meaning.....and while i don't believe this subject can be articulated completely in words, (because it is a feeling, right?), i can only hope to try and touch on it....so here goes.....i think it's best to start with what love is NOT....cause that's real easy...but with society today being so damn visual, i really think a lot of folks confuse beauty with love....and that just aint right!...Beauty and the Beast is a fairytale, but does it have roots in truth?....can we fall in love with someone for their true essence rather than their outer form?....some people think artists are shallow, that it's all about what we see....but a real artist has to be able to see behind the form, to read beneath the words, you dig?....now this is THE MOST fascinating topic for me because i think it deals with life itself....but since time won't allow me to write much more at this moment, i'll stop for now....to be continued......

I love the colors and the contrast. I feel that this piece captures the essance of love in a profound way. I hope I will be granted the permission to get deep with it....too late now.
If you consider the sun and the moon, they are two different elements, with two different jobs but they work together to create a balance. The colors you used, blue and orange, naturally they contrast but they also compliment each other.
This is love, 2 seperate entities that come together to complement each other and do so within balance. I think when most people ask what they want when it comes to love the answer is a simple as that.
Yoe were able to express it and it's beautiful. I don't know if it was intentional or if you stumbled onto it just as most of us do when it comes to true love.

Now you expressed in words what I never even thought of. Which kind of proves that inspiration comes from without, not within. Because I never sat down and planned anything about this piece! Not the colors, nothing! But like you said, orange and blue are contrasts. I think on the color wheel they are the exact opposites (correct me if I'm wrong). But if they are, that means it was a perfect
choice, and again, I never planned it at all...thanks for the comment, you actually helped explain my own art to me. One Love....

To me, love is all about balance. Your painting depicts this quite eloquently.
